CALI Online Lessons
The Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI) contains interactive computer-based tutorials on various legal subjects. CALI modules are available to Michigan Law students and faculty.
Each tutorial is interactive, meaning you can quiz yourself on tricky subjects like Hearsay Rules, First Amendment issues, and all the other curveballs law school throws your way.
Registering for CALI Lessons
Students and Faculty must register for CALI lessons using a registration authorization code.
You will be asked to sign in using your last name and UMID.
Finding CALI Lessons
To find particular modules:
- In the MLaw Catalog, conduct an Advanced Search http://umil.iii.com/search/X
- In the Title field, search for "CALI"
- In the Any field, search for a relevant keyword
- On the CALI website (found here: umil.iii.com/record=e1000049) browse lessons by topic or school year, or search for specific topics.
Available Lessons
CALI organizes lessons into categories as 1L or 2L/3L topics.
- 1L - First Year Lesson Topics include Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law, Legal Concepts and Skills, Legal Research, Legal Writing, Property Law, and Torts (and more).
- 2L-3L Upper Level Lesson Topics include Administrative Law, Bankruptcy, Commercial Transactions, Secured Transactions, Copyright, Corporations, Criminal Procedure, Employment Discrimination, Entertainment Law, Environmental Law, Evidence, Family Law, International Law, Patent Law, Professional Responsibility, Real Estate Transactions, Securities, Tax Law, and Wills and Trusts (and more).
Each of these subjects are simply topics that lead to a wealth of lessons in that subject area.
