Exam Preparation: West Study Aids

West Academic Study Aids Subscription

Click here to access the West Academic Study Aids subscription. Study aids series include Hornbooks, nutshells, Gilbert's, Black Letter Law Outlines, and more! Note: please use a browser other than Safari to access this resource.

Every authorized user has the opportunity to create an account where they can save 'favorites,' take notes, and highlight parts of the texts. In order to create an account, users MUST be within the Law School network (i.e., you must physically be located in a Law School building). Here are the steps:
  1. Access West Study Aids via the library's catalog while in a Law School building.
  2. Go to "Create an account" in the top right corner and create an account with your umich email.
  3. Wait for an email that says your account has been approved (it should only take a few minutes for students, but may take 1-2 hours for faculty/staff accounts).
  4. Access West Study Aids again, log in, and you should be able to access all the additional features!

West Study Aids are now available for offline reading through the West Academic Library app.

Available for iOS and Android                                                                                          

  • Notes and highlights automatically sync between the app and the online reader.
  • You can select up to 30 books for offline viewing at one time.
  • Download the West Academic Library app for free in the Apple App or Google Play Store

To read Study Aids Subscription titles offline, follow these steps:

  1. Use your browser to sign in to your West Academic account (to create an account see instructions on this page).
  2. Open a book and click the Available Offline checkbox.
  3. Sign in to the app with your West Academic username and password. Books you selected for offline viewing appear in the app.
