International Refugee Law Series
Published under the auspices of the Refugee Law Initiative at the University of London, this series provides a platform for outstanding new studies of the diverse intersecting legal regimes for the protection of refugees and displaced persons. Monographs and edited volumes in the series aim to advance scholarly and practitioner insight into how "refugee law" is evolving globally, focusing particularly on its interaction with other bodies of international law and manifestation in regions outside Europe.
Law and Migration
Migration and its subsets of refugee and asylum policy are rising up the policy agenda at national and international level. Current controversies underline the need for rational and informed debate of this widely misrepresented and little understood area. Law and Migration contributes to this debate by establishing a monograph series to encourage discussion and help to inform policy in this area. The series provides a forum for leading new research principally from the Law and Legal Studies area but also from related social sciences. The series is broad in scope, covering a wide range of subjects and perspectives.

The 1951 Refugee Convention
Formal name: Convention and Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees.
Fundamental legal document that defines the term ‘refugee’ and outlines the rights of the displaced, as well as the legal obligations of States to protect them.
Refugee Law and Policy: Library of Congress Report
This report describes the law and policy on refugees and other asylum seekers in 22 geographically dispersed countries and, at the supranational level, in the European Union. The individual surveys cover such topics as participation in relevant international conventions; laws and regulations governing the admission of refugees and handling refugee claims; processes for handling refugees arriving at the border; procedures for evaluating whether an applicant is entitled to refugee status; the accommodations and assistance provided to refugees in the jurisdiction; requirements for naturalization; and whether asylum policy has been affected by international emergencies, such as the current refugee crisis in Europe.

By Article Subject

Article Indexes categorize articles by subject. You can also locate articles by searching the article title, author, or journal name.

Many articles and journals are not in Westlaw or Lexis. The Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals is a particularly good resource for FCIL research.

By Journal Title

Once you identify an article you would like to read, search for the title of the journal in the Law Library catalog (the catalog does not include the titles to law journal articles, just the volumes and issues of law journals themselves). If a journal is not held by the Law Library, submit an Interlibrary Loan request for the article.
